About J. Sybylla Smith

Sybylla has been traveling and collecting accessories since her Flamingo bag purchase in Florida at age 5. This native New Yorker went on to study fashion in Paris with a concentration in the history of costume from the Baroque to the 20th Century.

A design graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, Sybylla, also holds a Masters from Columbia University. She honed her craft on Manhattan’s 7th Avenue and designed her own line of women’s Ready to Wear.

Sybylla has styled advertisements for Volkswagen, IBM, Liska, and Swiss Army. Her work has been published in W, Rolling Stone, and People. Her fashion editorials appear in Boston Magazine, fb (Fashion Boston) and Boston Common.

A self-proclaimed style alchemist, Sybylla, blends wardrobe elements to create a visual language. For advertisement campaigns and fashion editorials she communicates a concept. For individual clients she guides self-expression into a fun and functional wardrobe.
